Creating Inventory Records
Summary
In the logistics module, an inventory record can be created by adding details such as name, quantity, price, stage, SKU, location, and additional attributes like size, color, and weight. Optional fields include uploading a photo and attaching relevant notes or files. Once saved, the inventory item, such as a t-shirt, becomes available for shipping, with weight data used for accurate shipping cost calculations. The inventory record can be edited anytime, and the updated item will be listed in the system for future use.

An inventory record inside the logistics module. When you go to logistics and click on inventory, you’ll have an option to add inventory, and you can do a quick create, create or import. Import is discussed in another video where you can import and map your inventory records to the fields within an inventory file. Here we’re going to just go ahead and create an inventory record, and you’ll see there’s a number of fields, only a few of them are required. So we’ll call this inventory one and we’re going to have a quantity of 500 available. Now I’m going to put in a price and they say they’re 25 cents each. And I’ll have a set of stage, and these are the stages that were set up in system settings. Now you’ll see that there’s a skew, there’s a location, maybe this SKU is this, and the location is warehouse one, but then I can add more information.

Let’s say that these are large because this is a T-shirt. Let’s just call this t-shirt one, and we could have colour. So really depending on what kind of inventory you’re storing, you have all that information. Now, you’ll definitely want to put a weight in there because that comes into when you’re doing your easy post shipping labels, it’ll take the account of the weight of each unit to determine the weight and cost of your package. So we’ll say that this is that weight, and then of course you can also add a photo in there. So you want to put a photo to say what this piece of inventory was. So a lot of information you can put into create an inventory record, save that information, and now that inventory record with its quantity will be available. Here we’re looking inside the record itself. We can certainly edit the information. The left panel shows us everything we just created. Maybe I’ll add attachments or put any notes into this inventory record so that anybody who looks at this would have information as it pertains to, in this case, the t-shirt one inventory item. I can always click back to inventory list, and there’s my item right there inside the system. And now that product is ready for any shipping.
