Departments

Summary

This video explains how system administrators can create and manage departments by assigning users within the system. By navigating to system settings, they can add departments, assign users, and save changes. Departments are important because widget access is department-based, allowing administrators to control which users can see specific widgets on their dashboards.

Going to talk about departments. Once you have users in the system, and maybe you’ve set up their roles for them, you want to set up departments and put people in those departments. And this is, again, something that only the system administrator can do. So they’ll go to the icon and they’ll pick system settings, and then from there they’ll click on users and permissions and select departments. There may be departments here. If not, you can click add to create a new department. And then with each department, you’ll click into it and then you’ll say, who’s going to be in that department? So let’s see if we can find that person. Let’s see if we can put in Jacob. And then we’ll hit save. And then those people will be part of that department. Where departments are valuable is widgets are all department based, so as your system administrator goes through and is defining all the details within widgets, they select which departments have access to which widgets, and therefore the people in those departments would have access to those widgets to put on their various dashboards.
